Quizzes/Tests
Quizzes and tests are one form of assessments that can be used in e-learning. There are a few different forms that quizzes and tests can take, here are a few: multiple choice, true-false, short answer and drag and drop images and text.
Relating Infographics to Instructional Objectives
Class of media: E-learning Media
Characteristics: Assessment of student learning
Application to types of learning:
Cognitive objectives: Traditional tests tend to be used to measure lower-order learning, which is sometimes essential to ensuring students are meeting state and local learning standards.
Psychomotor objectives. Limited application.
Affective objectives. sometimes instructors will play classical music while tests are being taken to help calm and focus the students.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Quizzes/Tests
Advantages
- effective way to check for student learning
- allows for local and national standards to be checked
Disadvantages
- sometimes students have a hard time under the pressure of test taking
- scores don’t always represent students knowledge – UDL allows for focus of giving the students options to show what they have learned
- learning may be focused on test results only
Considerations for Selecting and Developing Quizzes/Tests for Instruction
- Make sure questions are clear and concise
- allow for ample time for each question
