Your comprehensive guide on selecting the proper medium for instruction.

Media has the ability to impact our instruction in positive ways, but understanding when, where, and how to use media in the classroom needs to be at the forefront of the instructional design process. The role we have as content creators ” is to guide your students to use these media as sources for their learning in ways that are wise, safe, and productive” (Smaldino, 2018, p. 31).
It is only when we fully understand each type of media that we can incorporate them into our instructional materials in ways that allow the student to get maximum knowledge and skills from the content.
Smaldino et al. (2018, p. 169) states that the actual benefit to student learning is dependent upon the teacher’s ability to design multimedia lessons that build students’ audio, video, text, and visual literacy knowledge and skills. This statement should challenge us to use media that compliments our content and empowers students to learn.
