I had the honor to accompany a student nominated and chosen
named one of eight nationally as a Dream Scholar of the year, Mr. Ahmat Adam Djouma. Normally a student could attend by himself, but Ahmat is totally blind, and needed a guide and notetaker. I have known Mr. Adam Djouma for about 3 years. He is a student that has expectations for himself, and those that assist him. Ahmat is in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, has won numerous scholarships for diversity and achievement and currently is a member of the NYS Education Department’s Advisory Council for Students with Disabilities in PostSecondary Education. I would like to share his picture. He wrote a poem regarding himself that I would like to share.
